Biotech Recruits Get Jump-start on the Market in Biotechnology Entrepreneurship Boot Camp
Some come on busses from their hotels, some come from Boston. They are from large pharmaceutical companies, small biotech companies, as well as universities.
When they get to the Boston Convention Center, instead of hitting the deck and giving their drill instructor 100, they file into a classroom where for three days they will learn how to develop the vision, skills, and plans required to take new technology and biotechnology inventions to market.
On day two approximately forty five boot campers sat and listened intently. Keep in mind, "the need and the value," these are very important says one of the speakers. "In a commercial marketplace you're proving value to a customer. The necessary conditions of success are to solve a problem in a large and growing market."
Venture capitalists want to see a large market space because you need customers who will adopt your product and pay for it he adds, but the most important thing he says is selling your team.
The boot-camp which is designed for members of the scientific and academic communities, are intended to provide boot-campers with a clear idea of what's involved for all stakeholders in a biotech start-up.
