Richard Hamilton, Ph.D., President & CEO, Ceres, Inc
Dr. Richard W. Hamilton is the President & Chief Executive Officer, Ceres, Inc. a leading developer of dedicated energy crops such as switchgrass, miscanthus and energycane.
Dr. Hamilton joined Ceres in 1998. He served as the Chief Financial Officer until September 2002, at which time he was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer and subsequently elected to the Ceres Board of Directors. Dr. Hamilton served as Vice Chairman of the Biotechnology Industry Organization and Chairman of their Food and Agriculture Governing Board from June 2003 until June 2005 and continues to serve as a member of the Board of Directors. Earlier in his career Dr. Hamilton was a Principal at Oxford Bioscience Partners, one of the leading investors in the genomics field and a founder of Ceres. From 1990 to 1991 he was a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Research Fellow at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Hamilton holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from Vanderbilt University.
